Associative polyurethane modifiers of rheological properties of aqueous dispersions of polymers.

Part I. The role of rheological properties' modifiers in coating or adhesive materials

based on aqueous dispersions of polymers and methods of polyurethane modifiers' syntheses

DOI: dx.doi.org/10.14314/polimery.2008.276

Summary

A literature review presenting the general characteristics and classification (Fig. 2) of titled modifiers is presented. It includes the mechanisms of actions of their particular groups [modifiers interacting with dispersion phase (Fig. 3) or disperse one] and methods of syntheses of polyurethane modifiers differing in structures (Fig. 4), namely linear (Fig. 5), star-shaped (Fig. 6), comb-type (Fig. 7) or hyperbranched ones.

Key words: polymers, aqueous dipersions, rheological properties, modifiers, polyurethanes, structure, mechanisms of actions, synthesis
