Research areas


Flame retardant additives

  • Synthesis and modification of halogen free, hybrid flame retardants. Flame retardant additives based on melamine salts, halloysite and expandable graphite. Application: polyamides, polyesters, epoxides, polystyrene, polyurethanes and other.
  • Synthesis and modification of halogen free, hybrid flame retardants containing phosphorous compounds and modified inorganic nano-sized structure compounds for example modified montmorillonite. Application: polyamides, polyesters, epoxides, polystyrene, polyurethanes and other.


Technology of plastics

  • Technologies of polyester resins, epoxy resins, including resins with special properties.
  • Technologies of composites including nanocomposites.
  • Synthesis of auxiliary substances to selected constructional resins.


Technology of polymers for coating applications

  • Technology of water-thinnable polyester resins.
  • Technology of UV curable powder coatings.

Experience


Long-term experience in:

  • developing and implementation of technology in the field of unsaturated polyester resins - including resins for special applications, their processing and modification in order to obtain green products with significantly reduced flammability and low emission of smoke; technical and industrial scale,
  • developing methods to reduce flammability of plastics using halogen-free additives,
  • synthesis and modification of flame retardants based on melamine salts,
  • synthesis of water-thinnable polyesters with reduced amounts of volatile organic compounds (VOC).


Profile of cooperation:


  • development of technologies associated with the synthesis and modification of plastics (especially polyester resins, epoxy resins, polystyrene),
  • consultations related to the practical application of plastics (especially polyester resins, epoxy resins, polystyrene),
  • research cooperation for solving problems related to the production of plastic products (mainly laminates).

  • pendulum hardness tester (Braive Instuments) Perosoz and König type, to study a relative hardness of the coatings obtained on glass substrate, test according to PN-79/C-81530
  • Rheometer's Brokfild HB, measuring system: cone - plate.
