Abstract


The main objective of the Patent Plus Project is financial support for the protection of intellectual property rights in the synthesis of paraffinic hydrocarbons from waste natural oils. The invention which was developed at the Industrial Chemistry Research Institute (ICRI) and patented (P.401772) has been filed for international protection under the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) with the right of priority guaranteed in the Paris Convention for the Protection of Industrial Property of 1883 (Rev. in 1967).

The Project is being realized in two stages.


Stage 1 involves:

1. An assessment of the state of art in the field to avoid any patent infringement.

2. Assessment of the economic rationale for patent protection of the invention.

3. Assessment of a commercialization strategy for the invention.


Stage II involves:

1. Filing a PCT Patent application.

2. Filing an application into the National Phase in the United States of America and the European Union (Germany, France, The United kingdom, The Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Austria and Finland).

3. Dealing with eventual infringement and validation disputes.
